Authorities are advising the public to be considerate of the elephants currently in the city until the end of the Dasara festivities. The countdown to Dasara has begun in Mysuru, and the renowned Dasara elephants have started their rehearsals for the grand Jamboo Savaari procession. This procession will cover a five-kilometre route starting from the palace, passing through the city's main roads, and ending at Bannimantap grounds. As part of their training, the elephants are being exposed twice daily to noises from vehicles, loudspeakers, firecrackers, and cannons. Spectators gather to watch the procession, especially on weekends, eagerly taking photos of the leading Howdah elephant, Abhimanyu. Guidelines have been issued for observing the Dasara elephants, including following the instructions of mahouts and Kavadis, maintaining a safe distance, avoiding obstructing their path, refraining from taking photos or videos directly in front of the moving elephants, and not honking unnecessarily. The Jamboo Savaari is the key highlight of the Dasara festival, featuring decorated elephants, colorful floats, and performances by various cultural groups on Vijayadashami, the final day of the celebrations.
